Can we take it that the team in the paper this morning for the Donegal game is the right team? Just don't see it on our website. Thanks

Probably - but we have no idea why it wasn't sent to us!

On a lighter note!!Curiousity is getting the better of me.
CAn anyone including Admin advise of the true identies of the three players on the Antrim Banner at the top of every web page. Someone is bound to know.
I have my ideas about the footballer. Former County corner back from Creggan Enda Mclaron. Not sure if the keeper is DD Quinn or his teammate Chrissy O'Connell anf i think the last hurler id Dunloys Paddy Richmond. This is Not a competition just a brain tester.

No idea, to be honest.

Fair enough admin, I take your word on the issue of promotion to the Liam McCarthy cup for the winners of the CR cup - although some national newspapers, like the GAA website still refer toa promotion / relegation play off.

So what happens if Down win the CR? Will they enter the Liam McCrthy by some route other than the Leinster C'Ship - as this was not extended to them?

Interesting.

Now, that's where the issue get's really complicated. If Antrim get relegated, then it would be a straight-forward swap. If offaly or Laois (presumably Cork wont be) get relegated, then there is likely to be a real row if, as it would seem logical, then Down and Antrim would be in Leinster.

So the county chairman siad expectations were low because we were in Division 2 this year, what will the excuses be if we get into Division 1 (where we have hurled in the last few years, unsuccessfully in league and championship).......

Where do you get this stuff from? We were in a completely different league for the last few years. The Chairman did not say anything about "low expectations"; he said that in his opinion, expecting to beat Dublin was going to be a big ask and might be just a bit too much, given the differences in the current league positions. But it is obvious that you have your own narrow-minded view of things and were delighted with last Sunday. Perhaps you were even among those disgraceful lunatics wearing Antrim colours shouting abuse at the managers along the side-line. This county wants nothing to do with that sort of lunacy.

Admin, are you sure that there is automatic promotion for the Christy Ring Cup winners? When was this decision taken? My understanding was that there was a playoff between the CR cup winners and the 'Round 2 relegation playoff losers'. The GAA website still has this game in their fixture list for August 1. Has this been changed very recently?

Definitely. Westmeath got this passed at Congress this year.

Do antrim go into the round robin hurling qualifiers?

They now go into an open draw with Offaly, Cork and Laois (don't know when this will be done). The winners move onto the next phase, the 2 losers play-off to decide who retains their McCarthy Cup status as the Christy Ring winners are now automatically promoted to McCarthy Cup.

I was at the match on Sunday and yes it was disappointing. The wind was the big factor along with poor decision making where goals were sought when points would have given hope. Four top hurlers injured BH, CH, PMcG and PS, who have all been fantastic during their appearances in the NHL. Antrim did have their chances to go in 5 to 6 points up by the mid interval, points from 21 yard free, easy frees and penalty. In the tackle Antrim emerged with the sliothar more often than Dublin. Antrim's Catching was very good especially in the first half. Their purple patch in the second quarter was as good as anything Cork or Tip displayed in the Munster Championship opener (Antrim can play top class hurling). In the second half just after we levelled Dublin changed tactic by issolating our corner back (moving out the three quarter line)and put about five balls in a row in to the right corner forward where Dotsy??? either drew a foul, or it lead to a goal or a point was scored. After this the hope died and into a stiff breeze it was the 'end'. Our Minors will give us some good days this year. Their performances will suggest if Hurling is in good health or not (This year they have got two top managers KMcN and AMcC so no excuses). Our schools are also doing well against opposition in Munster, etc. To finish - Good luck to the footballers on Sunday, I think things are looking up.

throwing a few pound at the senior team is going to have no long term benefits to antrim hurling at senior level, it is juveniles we need to invest in, in terms of coaching, there is no difference in the majority of drills done in antrim than there is to munster and leinster, the difference is the intensity that they play the game, how do we combat this, follow dublins act, 1 possibility, put greater emphasis on hurling in schools, why cant a club especially in the city not adopt a school or two to work in and coach in coordination with a county, thus increasing participation, greater pool of players, greater competition in games thus leading to a greater intensity in games, numbers is a problem for most teams especially in the city, minor and under 21 teams moving into leinster leagues and championships, is something we must continue to lobby for, another possible avenue is an antrim team participating at 'A' colleges level, munster and st kierans kilkenny dominated this competition for years till dublin decided to put a county team in, has it worked, yes they have won the competition, players from this have won leinster championships and now dublin seniors can hold their own in div 1, if its possible for a county the size of dublin to achieve this then its possible for antrim, money is another factor, ciaran barr said dublin have recieved the financial support in order to achieve this, its time antrim recieved greater backing from head quarters and the ulster council

And for us, that just about sums it up perfectly. The only issue we feel that needs to be considered with this contribution, is the organisational set-up within many of our clubs and schools. There is absoultely no point in sending a coach into a club to work with players and when he/she goes, it's back to the same old stuff. It's the same for schools. If a school views coaches going in as an opportunity to give a teacher a "free-period", then that too is a waste of time. There must be a willingness and the organisation within schools and clubs before any of this could ever hope to work.
